Ann Caviness - LBHR 7/3/07, Dr. Koen DeSmet
In 1968, when I was two years old, I was diagnosed as having dysplasia of the left hip (also known as congenital hip dislocation). The joint had not developed properly and the femur was dislocated. I walked with a limp. My parents took me to a leading orthopedic surgeon at the University of Chicago Medical Hospitals.
David Vale *BHR for 11 YEARS!** 11/99, Mr. McMinn
In early 1999 I was 50 years old, my right hip was giving me trouble (limping, pain after walking about half a mile) and I had never heard of hip resurfacing.
Bob Potter 11/17/08 Dr. Gilbert
"Here was one of my first postings asking if it was too soon. As it turns out, Dr. Gilbert said my OA was one of the worst that he had seen, so clearly it was not too soon." Thursday, August 28, 2008
Bryan J. RBHR 8/20/2007 Dr. Rogerson
My name is Bryan. When I was 24 years old and very active and athletic, I popped my right hip out when I was skiing. The bursa ruptured and it was bone on bone. By the age of 26, I had already lost significant mobility and had increased pain. I went to a few orthopedic doctors and they all told me to live with it as long as I could, and to be prepared for a hip replacement at a very young age.
Edith Crowther - 8/02, Dr. Walter FUSED HIPS**VIDEO**
When I was 12 I encountered Osteomylitis. This is a nasty infection of the bone marrow. It first occurred in the upper left hip but over the next 6 yrs occurred in both wrists and migrated to occur in the muscles of both hips, my back and finally settled into the bone of my left pelvis beside my hip joint. In the end the OS fused the hip joint in an effort to stop the osteomylitis being a problem.
Jessica Arciola - Dr. Su
I am so glad to have come across your page. I am a 33 yr old female who had Juvenile Rheumatoid arthritis and the damage in my hips left me without any cartilage in my right hip and very little in the left. I have been to many doctors hoping for a better alternative and solution than replacing the hip and I get the same answer over and over. I will need a THR. I put it off for years now and I am always looking on the internet for some answers but when I woke up today barely able to walk I got back on the net and searched myspace and found your page. I am going to take a look into this and hope that it is something that is possible for me. I am only 33 and I would like to have somewhat of a normal life and able to do normal everyday things without pain. I could never cross my legs that is something i just learned to accept as thing i can not do. Thank you. BTW 50 yrs old I would never believe it. You look my age for real.
Colleen Hennessy (DAST) 4/15/08 Dr. De Smet
I returned to the USA in August, 2007, after a 27 month Peace Corps assignment in the rain forest on a mountaintop in Honduras. My little village had rough, rocky roads, and with an aching hip, it was sometimes quite a struggle to hike the half mile uphill to my house. On three different occasions, I fell and cut my knees.
Alan Ryan 12/03/08 Dr. Kruezer
I am a 54 year old male in excellent health and physical condition. I was very active and athletic throughout my life and thanks to the anterior resurfacing procedure I am getting back in the game. Actually, I feel like I have my life back. I owe this to Dr. Stefan Kreuzer of Memorial Bone and Joint in Houston, Texas, who was the 4th orthopedic surgeon I had seen in a period of 5 years.
Bill T. RBHR 10/13/2013 Dr. Rogerson
Eleven months ago I was given the chance to have a BHR by Dr. Rogerson. I wish I had looked into it years ago. I was always under the impression that hip surgery was something you put off until your hip was completely shot. And that can mean years of compensation and pain.
Amie Prince - LBHR - 12/10/07, Dr. Clarke
All of that changed as a teenager. I had just graduated high school and started working a summer job at a local sports stadium. At night, when it was time to go home, my leg ached so badly that I couldn’t bend it to get in the car to go home.
Audrey Youden 10/19/06 & 4/20/07 Dr. Vijay Bose
I am a mother of four children and grandmother to eight. I always loved having my family near and celebrating the holidays, birthdays and summers with family members around. My husband and I would travel to Orlando, Florida in the winter so that they family could join us there to visit Disney World.
Bill Colohan - 3/13/07, Dr. Bose
On the 13th of March I had a BHR done in Chennai by Dr. Bose. I would like to give feedback regarding my observations and experiences while there.
